Catarina Carrão is a clinical evaluation and benefit-risk assessment specialist at BioSciPons, working at the interface of regulatory, medical affairs and communication. Previously, she studied Biochemistry and worked in academic research for more than 15 years in different international institutions (e.g., Postdoc Yale University Cardiovascular Research Center, Center for Cardiovascular Research Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Vienna Medical University). In 2006, she was a Marie-Curie Early-Stage Researcher; in 2012, she was awarded European Science Slammer; in 2013, she was honored Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA); and in 2021, she was nominated Young Science Journalist of the Year. Catarina Carrão is an accredited medical and science journalist with the Medical Journalist Association and World Federation of Science Journalists. Her scientific expertise in neuroscience, cardiovascular, oncology, molecular biology and biostatistics allow her to understand the clinical and regulatory needs of innovative medical technology. Regulatory science and policy are her interests, with a wish to see the field moving forward.
