Sebastian Kriegsmann was born in Berlin. After studying political science and economics at Freie Universität Berlin and the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (IEP), he worked for management consultancies in France, Colombia and Germany, most recently at Ernst & Young and Capgemini Consulting.

In 2014, Sebastian Kriegsmann moved to Beuth Verlag, where he initially headed the Strategy Projects staff unit and, from 2016, the Digital Services and Processes department. In this role, he was responsible for various projects involving the introduction of central software systems, the redevelopment of the web store, and the product development of standards management solutions. From 2019 to 2020, Sebastian Kriegsmann led strategy development at DIN and has been responsible for the Digital Infrastructure and IT Services division since January 1, 2021.

He is actively involved in the SMART standards development, has co-founded the German IDiS (Initiative for Digital Standards) group and is responsible for the regular exchange with ISO and IEC regarding the implementation of SMART standards.
